Be In Alignment
I recently was asked a very interesting question at an event I was doing. I will edit it to give more of a general take without revealing specific details, but a woman asked me, “Which is better, reiki or physical therapy?”. I think I surprised her with my answer, but I said neither is better. It all depends on what that particular person connects to. What do they/you believe will heal you? This is what I mean by “being in alignment”. It’s more than your anatomy, even though this was a really great title for a chiropractor, as it’s listening inwardly to what truly connects to you.
Now, I want to be clear, we do have to approach this with a certain amount of pragmatism when it comes to our health. If you are having issues with an ankle injury and want to regain normal range of motion and decrease your pain, good approaches would be chiropractic, physical therapy, kinesiology to affect the joint and soft tissues. However, another avenue you may also combine with those modalities is acupuncture or Reiki healing. Ultimately you have decided what approach will produce the best outcome for YOU.
It is frustrating when I hear that a primary care physician or physical therapist has told a patient to discontinue care without allowing them to see through treatment, even though chiropractic has been repeatedly shown to be a great first choice to decreasing musculoskeletal complaints like neck pain, back pain, disc injuries, sprains, strains ect. That is why I really have tried to be open in my recommendations, while using good common sense, because what doctors/health practitioners say matters.
I want to empower my patients to take all things into account, and go to practitioners they connect to. I truly believe that 80% of healing, if not more, is our own belief that we can be healed. We have to connect to what aligns deep within us or else we won’t stick with the plan. If we don’t participate in health practices that connect with us, we won’t reap the profound benefits. So I encourage each of you to pursue what connects to you when it comes to your health, and use discretion about who you get advice from.
I hope one day all health practitioners can be willing to work together to provide true complementary and holistic care to our patients.
All the best and thank you for stopping by to my blog.
